perhaps it is the miracle of impressing order over a thousand little pieces that keeps this artist creating mosaics
Margie Ford studied painting and sculpture, and began mosaicing ten years ago for the pleasure of combining the colour of paint and the technical journey of sculpture. Mosaic is exciting to her in its infinite variation, and she experiments with a vast range of different materials (shell, stone, glass, porcelain and ceramics) and styles. She is fascinated by the timelines mosaic has spanned, and how it endures. In a fast paced world, mosaic offers a pause, and a permanence.
Margie has completed numerous public and private commissions, from shop floors to interior and exterior walls. She is currently involved in community mosaic projects and teaching.
Margie lives and works in Plettenberg Bay and undertakes commissions nationally and internationally.
